About Me...

I was born and grew up in Chelmsford, where I am now based, and was educated at New Hall School, a convent boarding school as it was then, where I studied both GCSEs and A-Levels.

Immediately after my A-Levels, I spent a year in Germany living with a German family, for whom I worked as an au-pair.

From Germany I moved to Leicester, to study my degree in French and German at Leicester University, achieving a high-end 2:1.

I spent the third year of my degree, which was a four year course, living in France and working as a Teaching Assistant, teaching English Language to French students aged 14-18.

Having completed my degree, I moved to London, with my now husband, to take up a position as Project Manager with a London based translation company. I later left the company to take a more 'hands-on' role within the international department of a well-known press monitoring agency.

It was from London that I moved to Brussels to take up a position as an "Assistante" with the European Commission, based primarily within the Swedish Cabinet under Yvon Slingenberg.

We returned from Brussels in order to plan our wedding and it was upon my return to the UK that I studied an MA in Technical and Specialised Translation at Westminster University, achieving a pass with merit.

Since then, I have continued my studies with particular focus on Spanish Language and Wines & Spirits, and I am currently working my way through the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust certificates.

My main interests include, rather predictably for a linguist, reading - both French and German literature as well as English; travel - I have travelled extensively but never tire of it; food and wine - I enjoy everything there is to enjoy about them both equally; sports - I am an extremely keen spectator!
